Ninety-nine percent of the population of the world knows that exercise is good for them. Yet only a small percentage of people take time out of their busy week to do a couple of proper sessions to keep their body and mind strong. It should come as no surprise our attitudes and the decisions we make regarding our strength and fitness determine the quality of our life. Yet every day we make these decisions without thinking ahead to the consequences that we may have to pay dearly for. If your attitude is such that you believe that you do not have to bother with proper exercise you may be in for trouble somewhere down the track. Our modern day lives simply do not have enough muscle building and maintaining exercise in them anymore and our health is suffering as a result. Without the vigorous movement and activity that triggers growth hormones that keep us young and strong the body becomes weak and starts to deteriorate much faster than necessary. The bottom line is that you have a 95% chance of ending up with a chronic lifestyle disease somewhere in your lifetime if you allow your strength to dwindle away. A 'lifestyle disease' includes the killers, heart disease, cancer and diabetes and at least 50 others that are caused by what you do and don't do in the way of proper exercise and proper nutrition on a daily basis. When the human body is allowed to grow weak all of its systems and processes weaken as well including the immune system. You then become a 'sitting duck' for one or more chronic conditions to hunt you down and wreck your life. But no one could want this to happen to them, it just does not make any sense. Surely it is easier to practice some self care each week and get in a couple of strengthening exercise sessions. By changing your attitude about proper exercise you can change the course of your health span so that it is more likely to match your life span. The goals don't have to be lofty, in fact simple is always best. An efficient strengthening exercise program doesn't have to be time consuming; it can easily fit into even the busiest of schedules with just two or three sessions a week Think about how your life will be better with more energy and vitality. Think about how you will look and feel and about how the right choices made now will help you live an extra 5, 10 or more years and in a healthier, more functional state. Strength building exercise builds energy and energy is the source of all life. We have the opportunity to take this energy that is available, and all it takes to get our share is a positive attitude and action. Now, this doesn't mean you have to go from being a non-exerciser to born again exerciser overnight. You can take baby steps and little by little your body and mind will begin to accept, enjoy and maybe even desire, this newfound more active part of your life.
