We hear a lot these days about a phenomenon called 'chronic lifestyle disease' and many of us wonder what this really means. It means the modern disease conditions that have become epidemic in the 21st Century are actually caused by our lifestyle. We have deviated greatly from the blueprint of our ancient ancestors and are violating the laws of nature and this is causing us major health problems. These nasty diseases particularly the 'big 3' heart disease, cancer and diabetes are the leading cause of death and disability accounting for 7 out of every 10 deaths in the developed world. These diseases rarely cure themselves and usually cannot be healed by modern medicine as they have been triggered by unhealthy lifestyle factors such as not enough proper exercise and too much poor quality processed non-nutrient food. These diseases have a long course of development and may not show symptoms for 10-40 years (or more). But once they are diagnosed health is down the gurgler and a much lower quality of life remains at best, and a shortened life at worst. These villains rob people of everything - their strength, energy, their mind, their life savings, their future and eventually their dignity. These increasingly common diseases are the most costly to treat and we all pay the price in one or another yet they most preventable. Even if you already have one of them there is much you can do to help yourself and it does not involve doctors, prescription drugs and medical treatments. What it does involve though is some effort on your part as you will need to put back into your life what you have allowed to be eroded away. Proper strength building and maintaining exercise and healthy nutrition to support your exercise program are the first things that need to be implemented. The human body needs vigorous physical activity to stimulate the release of the hormones that disease-proof our body - our own 'growth and repair 'hormones that we are denying ourselves with our no-exercise lifestyles. These hormones can not only keep us healthy and disease free they can also heal our body if it has become sick better than any drug on the planet. But health has to be restored first and the top two strategies for this is proper strength training exercise and a diet of natural unprocessed natural foods cooked from scratch. Sure, this is going to take some work and some effort. But which is harder spending a hour or two planning ahead and cooking healthy foods and going to the gym 2-3 times each week or being dead 24 hours a day? Adopting healthier behaviors into your lifestyle such as being physically active and eating nutritious foods can prevent or control the devastating effects of these diseases. No one would knowingly want to be that one out of every two people that have at least one of these diseases and many have multiple conditions. We know that eighty percent of these killer diseases are preventable and these low-cost suggested strategies are ones that we each can easily do. In fact they are your very best bet and win hands down over any medical solutions that cannot possible cure a broken down human body that is in a disease state.
