There are many of you who may remember the old fashioned tea kettles that whistled when the water had reached boiling point. The kettle has advanced now to the electric kettle. Many electric kettles are automatic and switch themselves of when the water has reached the correct boiling temperature ensuring you get the best taste from your tea.

The beauty of the electric kettle is that you can switch it of before boiling point, so that you can make your cup of tea how you like it best. The majority of electric kettles automatically switch of when they reach boiling point, this is great if you are preparing other food in the kitchen.

There are many that have a cord that coils up and fits snugly into the base, this is often better for safety reasons in the kitchen to save any unpleasant mishaps if spillage with boiling water. It can take less than five minutes from start to finish when switching the kettle on, to sitting down and enjoying a nice cup of tea or coffee.

Kettles can be purchased at most retail stores or you can find them online. Take the time to ensure you choose one that is of good quality and durability, and one that has a good warranty with it so the kettle can serve you for many years ahead.

There are many different styles and colors of kettles to choose from, stainless kettles are perhaps the most durable although as with any kitchen appliance it is all down to personal choice and the color scheme of the kitchen for some people. Stainless appliances are easy to clean and come up shining in seconds with just a quick wipe down with a damp cloth.

There are many people who still prefer to heat a kettle up and do not wish to have an electric one, these types are still available. Copper kettles are liked by some people as these types heat very quickly as copper is a conducive material. The efficiency of using a copper kettle is that you do not necessarily have to turn the heat or fuel up as they heat up very quickly.

A copper kettle will actually last you longer if you do not place it over a high heat, in actual fact this is one thing you should not do with it. Those who have a lacquered kettle can maintain the polished look by using cleaning materials that are not abrasive to copper.

Cast iron are another type of kettle these are a lot heavier and thicker unfortunately rust can eventually damage the kettle, if it was possible to stop this then they could probably be one of the most durable too. Although when boiling water in this type of kettle overtime, a protective layer of minerals build up on the base. It is thanks to this that they tend not to rust as quick.

There are many farm houses who have in use painted enamel cast iron kettles, these have to be treated with special car to prevent chipping. It is some of these types of kettles that have become a collector's item. There are many kettles to choose from but probably today the electric kettle is used by most people for the quickness of it.
