Every year, consumers spend millions of dollars on designer perfumes. The cost of perfumes have gone down in recent years, mainly due to widespread use of perfumes. Also, technology has allowed the production of perfumes to become more efficient, thus lowering the costs. As a result, more and more people are able to afford using perfumes on a daily basis. But why are perfumes such popular products? The idea of having perfumes to cover body odor isn't new. In fact, since ancient times, people have been using fragrances from various oils to smell good and to heal. This tradition has passed down for generations. Today, we expect many of the same essential oils to be found in perfumes. Perfume oils can come from many sources. They can be extracted from plants or animals. When technology was not available, the oils were extracted by manually pressing the plants until all the oil had been squeezed out. However, this primitive method of extraction is rarely seen now. Modern methods have been developed to encourage large scale production. There are several methods that are commonly known. Mostly, they involve some way of heating the raw materials so that the oil evaporates. The oil is then separated from the materials by tubes or pipes and cooled so that it can resume its original form again. Besides essential oils from plants and animals, similar types of fragrant oils can be produced synthetically. Synthetic oils do not require raw materials. They are man-made. They are easy to produce, and cost less to make. As a result, more and more manufacturers are turning to synthetic oils for producing perfumes. Synthetic oils can replicate natural smells, or totally original smells can be created. When perfume makers develop new smells, they follow a simple science. For years, researchers have spent lots of time and resources looking at what smells repel or attract other human beings. Of course, theoretically speaking, perfume smells are supposed to be attractive to the wearer and to other people. However, in reality, there is no single smell that appeals to everyone. In other words, fragrances can be subjective. What smells good to one, may not smell good to the other. In addition, no one perfume will smell exactly the same on two human beings. That is because the fragrant oils, when mixed with the body odor (which is unique), will produce slightly (or completely) different smells. For this reason, you can't really tell if a perfume is ideal for you based solely on recommendations. What works for someone else may not work for you. The only way to tell if a perfume is right for you is to try it out for yourself. Wear it for several hours, and see if you like it. Also observe the people around you - Do they like it as well? If you're the only one who loves the perfume, perhaps it's time to switch brands!
