Latest Breaking News - Health - Viewing: Two Dietary Mistakes That Will Put The Brakes On Your Weight Loss Plans

2010-12-12

It is so frustrating, you have tried practically every type of diet you can get your hands on and still that stubborn fat sits around your waist, thighs and backside and refuses to shift.

You have done the 'high and low carbohydrate, 'high and low protein,' and everything in between. Maybe you have tried diet shakes, pills and powders but when the smoke cleared on them little to nothing had changed.

Sure, you lose a pound or two here and there but nothing to get really excited about. And the worst thing is that odd pound or two sneaked back on not long after you gave up on your dieting regime. If this is the kind of experience you have had trying to lose weight you are not alone after all 95 percent of diets fail so it is not your fault you just have been trying things that will never get you great results.

Let us have a look at some of the reasons why you have not been successful and how we can change that.

Mistake number one - Eating refined carbohydrates. Natural carbohydrates are vital for health and fat loss but you need to stay away from processed ones such as breads, white rice, cakes, cookies, things made with white flour and sugar.

These things are so processed there is zero nutrition in them and they create huge surges of insulin that literally command your body to store fat. You need to ditch these foods and replace them with vegetables of all kinds, limited amounts of fruit (if weight loss is your goal) brown rice and whole grains.

Mistake number two - Eating processed foods. This means all foodstuffs and not just carbohydrates. Things in pretty boxes and packets with a food label means they have been messed around with by man. Most of the nutrients have been extracted or changed and chemicals added so much during processing that our body is unable to utilize these things as it does not recognize them as food.

This more than any other factor will mean you will struggle with your weight and eventually your general health for as long as you eat these so called 'foods'. When your body becomes overloaded with toxins and unnatural elements it stores them in fat and holds more water to try and dilute the toxic effort of these non-foods.

Get rid of as much of these things as possible from your diet and replace with whole foods - a tomato, an apple, a carrot a piece of grass fed beef or fish from the ocean. Give the boxes and packaged stuff a miss and watch the pounds fall off.

Sure it means you have to cook things from scratch but is that not a small price to pay for losing weight and looking and feeling like you want to?

The idea with eating 'clean' and higher quality foods is to get your nutrition high to get your body healthy. When calories are high but nutrition is low (when you eat too many processed foods) your body will continue to signal you that it is hungry. This can cause you to overeat when food cravings become intense even if you think you have had enough food for the day.

So by making these changes you will be supplying your body with good nutrition and it will reward you with slowly but surely giving up its fat stores. Soon you will see your slim trim body returning and the wee bit of extra effort you have put into your healthy eating plan will be worth every second.
