Latest Breaking News - Technology - Viewing: Three Forces Which Push People To Subscribe For Satellite Tv Services

2011-12-03

There are at least three forces which are known to push people into making satellite TV subscriptions. Knowledge of this can be important to, among others, people who are in the business of marketing satellite TV services. You are, after all, only likely to serve a customer well when you have a clear understanding of what is motivating him or her into (considering) buying your service. And then again, if you have always wondered why people opt to subscribe to the satellite TV services, you will find answers to sate your curiosity here.

Without any further ado, the three forces which push people to subscribe for satellite TV services include:

1. Lack of free to air TV reception in certain areas: there are many parts of the world where there is no free-to-air TV coverage. There are other places where such free-to-air TV is available, but where the coverage is so poor that the people living in such areas can only get one or two channels. You come to realize that most free to air TV service providers are very business oriented people; who will only take their services to areas with potential for good returns. Their calculations often show that what they need to spend buying frequencies and erecting masts in sparsely populated remote areas is more than they can ever hope to get in terms of additional advertising revenue on account of the (few) additional people they reach that way. So they opt not to extent coverage to such areas. If you happen to be living in such areas, and you are still keen on watching TV, you will probably find yourself having to subscribe to satellite TV services.

2. The desire to access a greater variety of content: there are people who live in areas with good free-to-air TV reception, but who still subscribe to satellite TV services. You may have found yourself wondering why they do so. The answer is in the fact that there are many people who feel that the free-to-air TV channels don't offer them a wide enough programming variety. They therefore subscribe to the satellite TV services, in which they get to access more (global) content, to sate their appetites. In most satellite TV service packages, you get a very wide selection of specialized news, movies, sports and documentary channels, in addition to a wide variety of the 'ordinary' mixed fare TV stations (those which offer different types of content together).

3. The desire to access unique content: it is satisfying to know what others don't know. It is also satisfying to be enjoying exclusive stuff: stuff that others aren't able to enjoy. This, at least, is the way many people feel, consciously or subconsciously. And when it comes to TV, the way to get truly exclusive stuff is by subscribing to satellite TV - seeing that free to air TV is available to everyone who can afford a TV set (which is pretty much everybody nowadays). But if you subscribe to the best satellite TV services, it is indeed possible for you to access content that can't be found anywhere else.
