Latest Breaking News - Health - Viewing: The Two Top Habits Of Strong Lean Slim Healthy People

2010-01-08

Many of us wonder how people who are slim, firm and toned got that way and more importantly how do they stay that way with a seemingly effortless approach. Although we look up to these people and admire their physical attributes we can adopt some of their healthy habits that got them into such great shape.

Regardless of where you are with your health/fitness or weight loss goals you can take advantage of what they do as they have some habits in common. Here are the two top lifestyle habits that almost all slim 'in shape' people seem to have in common:

1) How they eat - No one ever got slim and healthy by dieting. In shape people eat - and they eat a lot. The difference between a fit fat burning body and overweight fat storing body is that 'in shape' people eat differently. They tend to eat more frequently with small meals each containing some protein.

They eat as many as six or seven of these small meals a day. This keeps their metabolism (the rate the body burns fuel) at a higher rate than only eating 2 or 3 times each day. They also tend to eat more whole and unprocessed foods that are not full of chemicals that play havoc with their metabolism. Their protein intake is higher and the bulk of their carbohydrates are complex slow burning ones in the form of whole grains, vegetables and fruit. They also avoid the fat free trap.

The result is they stay slim and trim as they rarely eat more fuel (calories) in any given meal than their body can burn up. Their blood sugar levels are more stable which keeps food cravings at bay and they have higher and more balanced energy levels so they can put some effort into being active.

2) A proper exercise plan - Getting from flabby to fabulous involves strength training exercise to tone up those muscles in the shortest possible time. Wasting time on ineffective 'cardio' type activity is not how they get into great shape. They do brief intense activity that works their muscles such as a strength training program and only need to train 2-3 times each week.

They change the exercises regularly and make sure they are doing them with enough intensity (degree of effort) to ensure results. If they do anything else in their exercise routine it is interval training once or twice in a week to add some variety.

So what these people do to stay in shape is pretty basic and anyone can do it and get the same great results. The two main points to their success are ditching as much of the processed 'junk' type foods with little to zero nutrition and replacing it with healthier 'whole' options cooked from scratch. No-one ever built a strong, lean, slim healthy body on low quality food.

The other important factor is the proper strength training program done with some effort. So take a leaf from the book of these admired people who are in great shape and get started on your new lifestyle. They will not mind at all that you are following in their footsteps and might well be pleased that they could help.
