Success is a formula which can be learned and duplicated. The best way to achieve success is to watch other successful people in action and begin to model their behaviour. Essentially it has a number of key ingredients and it starts with being clear about where you would like to go, where you are now then what you will need to change or learn to get to your end destination point. It requires massive and regular action as well as focussed effort before a dream can materialise. Whilst success includes the three components of; • Experience • Knowledge • Imagination It is imagination that is the most critical factor in the equation and should not be underestimated. There are numerous examples and role models in the world of individuals who dared to dream big and went on to realise that potential despite, perhaps, lacking the material means or know-how initially. Everything starts with a dream which will build a strong intention. Our feelings create our thoughts which ultimately lead to our actions. Not surprisingly then some of the greatest leaders in history have become so because they were fuelled by a passion, a noble cause, a burning desire for a better world. Actions start with clear goal setting. In order for these to be effective they need to be specific and measurable and written down. Time spent on visualisation and holding the thoughts of positive realisation will increase the speed of achieving those goals. Mindset is everything, in order to be successful you first have to believe that you can be then hold the vision of what a successful version of yourself looks and feels like. Success is also about discipline and working hard. Clearly if you are passionate about what you do and what you are aiming for then whilst you may work hard it won't feel like a burden at all. This will also help you whilst you practise and hone your knowledge and skill which will require an attention to detail and a steely resilience to bounce back from the inevitable knocks, setbacks and obstacles on your path. ''True success is when what you do for a living is in alignment with your purpose and your passion'' Mary Morrissey It pays to surround your self with a support infrastructure which is positive and encouraging. A true measure of success comes when we can define it for ourselves. That is we do not succumb to the external pressures and define success by factors outside ourselves such as what other people expect of us. We become overly influenced on the opinion of others and acquiring goods or that promotion at work to feel worthy. This type of definition actually takes our personal power away and we end up feeling empty inside however successful our lives look to the outsider. Or perhaps we become addicted to achieving and life really becomes all about the next challenge or goal and we forget the joy of the moment and learning as well as the fun of building something new. 'Success is a journey not a destination'' Ben Sweetland. Finally if we can turn our passions and our purpose into service to others then we really have found the true measure of success. 'The true measure of success is measured by the lives you touch and those who touch yours'
