Poor men. It has been proven that they go through a sort of male menopause as they get older because of declining levels of the male hormone testosterone. If nothing is done to halt the decline they can experience physical changes such as loss of muscle tissue which means a loss of strength. Without strong muscles pulling on the bones they are attached to bone strength wanes as well and aches and pains develop in joints that no longer have strong muscles to cushion and support them. The changes men experience are not as sudden as the changes that women experience as they get older but they are still happening and tend to creep up very gradually. They might develop a slight paunch and maybe find it difficult to climb a flight of stairs or exert themselves physically, quickly becoming out of breath. It is likely that the firm toned muscle of youth has quietly been replaced with more soft body fat. As well as physical changes that happen with falling levels of testosterone there can be emotional changes as well. Mood swings, feeling down, irritability and a loss of confidence are all symptoms of the male menopause. Our modern inactive world doe not help matters as men are rarely needed to do any physical 'work' anymore. Their muscles grow weak and their bodies begin a long slow downward spiral of decline in line with one of natures main laws - 'use it or lose it'. More and more men are reporting low levels of testosterone due to lack of vigorous activity of the muscular system and unhealthy refined and processed diets. It is a shame it is being left to fade away when its presence means a higher quality of life as testosterone is what makes a man 'a man'. This decline can be stalled and even halted and you can keep your game alive by adopting a strength training program to replace the missing 'work' that your body is engineered and built for. Your proper program will restore and rebuild lost muscle tissue which stimulates 'growth and repair' hormones giving you back some of what you may have thought had been lost forever. If you combine your exercise program with a healthy natural protein rich diet eliminating as many refined and processed foods as possible you will have the formula for hanging on to your manly hormones for a lot longer. As a bonus you will have stronger muscles and bones, your heart and its pipes will be stronger and fitter, any excess body fat hanging around your mid section will disappear and you will have greater disease protection at a time in your life when you need it most. Don't just sit back and accept this male menopause thing just because you are getting more and more candles on your birthday cake. Get yourself active, get strong and get fit and reclaim what is rightfully yours - years (even decades) of youthfulness. Seek the help of a fitness professional so you can get your results in the fastest and most effective way.
