Latest Breaking News - Health - Viewing: Strength And Longevity Are Like Peas In A Pod

2010-05-16

From the origins of our species way back in time, human beings have had to exert themselves physically on a daily basis in order to survive. Even after they left the more primitive times and became farmers hard physical work was required right up until the 20th Century when the physical demands of daily life were replaced by automation. Now almost every scrap of physical effort in our lives has been replaced or eliminated and we can get through the day without having to hardly move a muscle.

We can now prosper financially and have food and shelter without exerting ourselves but our bodies now are denied the stimulation from physical exertion to become and remain healthy. The human body was designed to move - to walk, to run, to lift, to reach, to hunt and gather food. But our modern life has us sitting, behind computer screens, in cars and in front of a television set. We move in a few repetitive ways hardly ever exerting ourselves or physically performing the movements we are engineered to do in everyday life. Without this activity to stimulate the 'growth and repair' hormones chemicals whisper to the cells to decay, degenerate and die.

This explains the epidemic of 'chronic lifestyle disease' that 400 million people are predicted to die from within the next decade. Our comfortable, easy lives have a huge personal cost as families lose loved ones much sooner than they need to with diseases such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes. Children being born today have a predicted shortened lifespan of 20-30 years as they are being struck down with diseases that children simply did not get 50-100 years ago.

The one thing that we have now cut from our life which is causing these problems is our strength - our muscle strength. Fifty percent of the weight of the human body is made up of muscle tissue. When this is not challenged and stimulated with constant activity it grows weak dragging down the health of the entire body. Without those 'growth and repair' hormones there is not the renewal, the repair or the regeneration of the old, worn out cells and tissues. Instead the body grows weak and becomes prone to disease.

The laws of nature never change and when an organism is kept strong it is assumed that strength is needed to feed a family. But when it is no longer being used and kept strong it is also assumed that there is not a family to feed and can be cleared away to make room at the trough for younger more productive beings. Nature's true efficiency means what is not being used is not draining resources.

The only way to remain healthy is to keep strong so these laws of nature are fooled. After all the body only obeys the signals that are sent. If the muscles are stimulated with proper strength training exercise then hormones that will keep you youthful are stimulated and you will be kept around for as long as your strength is needed to provide for others.

But this is not going to happen with a no proper exercise lifestyle, you will need to take action and 2-3 times each week go to a gym or fitness center and spend 30-40 minutes on a proper program that will keep your entire body strong.

It is as simple as this, and you know what you have to do now if you want to not be one of the 400 million people that will be cleared from the planet within the next ten years of premature and preventable disease.

Keeping our strength is our own responsibility, and it is time to take that first step on your own path to the best you. In fact, you can and should be able to not only maintain but also improve your physical abilities throughout your adult years. You can be stronger in your 40's, 50's 60's and beyond than you are/were in your twenties and thirties. How exciting is that prospect?
