Sonic Triple Trouble is developed by Aspect. It was published by Sega. The game director is Katsuhiro Hasegawa. The composer for the game music is Yayoi Wachi and Saori Kaboyashi. Sonic Triple Trouble can be played in the Game Gear Platform. It was first released on 11th November 1994 in Japan. In Europe and North America, it was first released on November 1994. Sonic Triple Trouble has single player game mode.

In this sonic game scenario Dr. Robotnik has managed to obtain all the Chaos Emeralds. While he is testing the nuclear weapon, the Atomic Destroyer, an accident happens and all the Chaos Emeralds returned to their original position. When Sonic and his two helpers, Tails and Knuckles, learn about this they begin their quest to retrieve them. After Dr. Robotnik had retrieved the yellow Chaos Emerald, he deceived the guardian of the island into believing that Sonic, Tail and Knuckles are coming to steal the Emeralds. In the meantime, Nack the Weasel is using the commotion in order to have the Emeralds. Nack did not know the power of the Emeralds. However, he wanted to get the Emeralds because he thought these large gems can sell for a good price in the market. Now three parties are trying to get the Chaos Emeralds.

Sonic Triple Trouble is a sonic game consisting of six zones, divided into six acts. In each act, you will be playing as Sonic or Tails. There is not much difference between the Sonic and Tails character except certain moves and gadget power-ups is unique to a character. The rings in the third act of each zone may be a bit concealed. Rings can be found in all acts. The rings can increase your health. If you have rings, you will not so easily die from a hit. However, you can die from falling off the screen, drowning, and time out. If you are hit by an enemy in zones 1, 2 and 6, you will lose 30 rings.

There are many power-ups in this game including Super Ring, Invincibility, Speed Shoes, Check point, 1-Up, and Clock. The Super Ring looks like a ring. Invincibility will make you become invincible. The speed shoes look like a red shoe and can increase the running speed of your character. The check point looks like a red arrow and let you save the game at that place. 1-Up will gives you character an extra life. The clock can only be seen in special stages.

If you are hit by an enemy in act 1, you will lose 50 rings. If you are hit by an enemy while holding less than 30 or 50 rings, you will lose all the rings. If you get hit and have no rings, you will die. When you die, you will automatically be reverted to the beginning of the act. This becomes an exception if you have activated a Check Point power-up. At the beginning of the game, you have four lives. If you lose all the lives during the game, you can still continue if you have continues left. You begin the game with four lives. You will receive another continue every time you earn 50,000 Points. If you choose to continue the game, you will return to the beginning of the last act. If you have no more continues, the game is over and you will have to restart the game.
