Not everyone is able to fully grasp the Google algorithms and what it takes to get your websites ranking high. In fact, there are only a few people in the entire world that really know the true schematics of Google and how it works. But even though we may not know the exact equation, the people who have been in the industry long enough can tell you what you need to do in order to get your website to take the top spots. It all starts with the keyword research. AdSense is a type of business venture that really relies on the amount of traffic that you can get to your website. The more traffic you can bring to your website, the more money you are going to be able to make. So it should be the goal of every AdSense publisher to rank high for their keyword terms. Well, it is much easier to take the top spots for terms that are less competitive. So if you haven't started your publishing business yet and want to ensure that you have the ability to take the top spot, you are in luck. Follow the advice here and you will be in good shape come a few months down the road. It is best to put up websites that relate to products. Why? Because product based niches will result in much higher click through rates. People will be more inclined to click on a Google ad if they are looking for a specific product and that advertisement is promoting that product. Your website should revolve around the keywords of that product. First you want to make sure that the product you are going to talk about, promote, review, or at least offer some unique insight about, is actually getting searched on. Just use Google's Free Keyword Tool to see how many people are searching for these keywords each month. I always check to make sure that they are getting at least 1,000 searches per month. If they are not, it's just not worth the time. Then you need to check the competition for these keywords. If you are going after television sets, you might be out of luck trying to rank for those keywords because the competition for them is super strong. But, if you break that niche down into a sub-niche and try to go after 56 inch HD television sets, you will have a much better chance of ranking. You won't know how strong the competition is until you look at the top 5 spots in Google for the keywords. You'd like to see websites that have low PR, low amounts of back links and pages that aren't optimized for the keywords. If it all checks out, you may have found yourself a lucrative niche because you will be able to occupy the top spot in Google. These are just a few of the key components of keyword research and it will take some time to learn and get good at. Remember with an online business, slow and steady wins the race.
