If you have a dog, you need to give it a home and bed just like you have yourself. While dogs themselves are usually quite happy with an old pillow, their owners often want to give them something beautiful, personalized, comfortable and safe. This is why many shops store dog beds of all shapes and sizes. There are many ways to personalize a dog's bed. First of all, the bed should reflect your dog's personality. Your adoring little pug would look beautiful on a bolster bed, while your adorable, arrogant Chihuahua can reign regally over the household on a little doggy chaise that is just his size. Doggy beds should also be chosen according to your dog's size. Some people buy separate beds for puppies and then new ones when the dog grows to full size, while others stick with one full-size bed for the few months that dogs spend in their waddling, heartbreakingly cute puppyhood. The beds can be of various types, for example:
- Dog sofas look exactly like sofas, except that they are the perfect size for your dog. You can also add cushions to these, making them even more comfortable
- Boxy beds. These are basically a mattress within a box. Sometimes, the box has a scooped entrance on one end, making it easier for a smaller dog to clamber into it.
- Orthopedic beds. For older dogs, or big dogs prone to rheumatism, orthopedic beds can really help keep their bodies healthy and pain-free. These are filled with memory foam or sherpa fleece
- Chaises are perfect for regal laziness, especially when your dog tends to spent a lot of time inside the house being waited on hand and foot
Once you choose the right bed for your pooch, you can now personalize it even further. Pick out upholstery of your choice - all over caress, sherpa fleece, microfiber or other fabrics in any shade you fancy. You may choose to create a special crest for your dog, a miniature picture of him/her, or to have your dog's name embroidered onto the bed. Your pet shop may give you a limit on the characters you can monogram, but paying a little extra will usually take care of this. However, we aren't sure how many people will appreciate seeing a name like "His Highness Lord Dogginess of the Rochester Family" inscribed on a doggy bed! Dogs are growing more and more human-like as they spend more time in domestic settings, and their owners are suitably impressed by their intelligence and powers of communication. For many owners, the dogs take the place of children, friends and companions. Therefore, why deny your dog anything that would be given to a child - especially something as easy and affordable as a personalized bed?
Many owners like to give their dogs personalized dog beds. Monogrammed dog beds, with the dogs name embroidered, can be a wonderful addition to your dogs list of accessories.
