Latest Breaking News - Health - Viewing: Only Strength Training Exercise Will Give You A Lean Tight Body

If you are a woman and desire a strong, lean, slim and healthy body take a look at your workout routine and make sure you are not making these workout mistakes that will cost you time and slow your progress. These mistakes could also slow your metabolism (your body's engine), zap your energy and keep your body soft and flabby.

Mistake number one: Doing hours of recreational types of activity like walking, jogging or cycling with the goal of simply burning calories. The old way was to focus on the notion of 'calories burned' during an exercise session rather than what happens to our calorie burning rate after the session is over.

When you do long periods of long, low to moderate intensity activity you are in fact teaching your body to store body fat better for the next time you do an endurance session.
This type of activity is great as part of an active and fit lifestyle but do not expect it to produce a strong and lean body. Too much of it and you will actually lose muscle tissue which will make your body soft and flabby.

These activities do not work the muscles through their ranges of movement under a load. Working harder and longer will have the opposite effect of what you actually want with little to no increase in your metabolism when you stop.

Short burst interval training is the way to go and intensity is the key. This type of activity will give you three times the results in half the time. But guess what, it is harder, way harder so you will have to build it up over a period of time. That long slow stuff was easy wasn't it? Any wonder it didn't get you the results you were really looking for.

Mistake number two: Not including strength training exercise in your regime. But you say, "I don't want to bulk up, I just want to get toned." You know already that you will not get 'bulky' from working your muscles. If you get bulky blame the thick layer of fat covering your muscles. That is the 'real' problem.

Your precious muscle tissue is your friend and is the greater fat burner the human body has. Why would you not want it working at its best to give you a lean and firm physique? What you need to do to make sure you do not get any larger is you need to get your eating to support your fat loss goals. And that means eating the right ratio of macro-nutrients (protein, carbohydrates and fats) in small meals throughout the day.

Strength training exercise will increase your metabolism if done properly at the right level of intensity (degree of effort). This increase is the KEY to fat loss which will slowly get burned off your body every minute of the day and night at a greater rate.

So be concerned with not just burning fuel (calories) during an exercise session but be concerned with what happens after the session is over. When you improve your metabolism so it is doing this, stand back and watch your body take on the lean tight shape of your dreams.
