We are in the midst of a global energy crisis but it has nothing to do with oil. The problem is unexplained fatigue and counts for an estimated 10 million doctor visits each year. Being tired and low energy seem to be a common complaint for so many people these days and for some they feel this way more often than they feel vibrant, healthy and energized. While constant exhaustion can be linked to some health problems, the cause is more likely to be found in your lifestyle habits or lack of them such as your exercise routine and the quality of your nutrition. The good news is that it is easy to modify and make improvement to your lifestyle to create more energy and less tiredness. Some of the things that can drain our energy and leave us without motivation to want to active are: Low quality diet and poor nutrition - Eating too many processed foods with refined sugary carbohydrates and high in unhealthy fats can cause vitamin and mineral deficiencies that contribute to feeling exhausted. On the flipside, not eating enough and skipping meals is a ticket to tiredness as well. A healthy eating plan that incorporates the correct balance of macro-nutrients such as protein, carbohydrates and fats is vital so your body is getting the nutrition it needs to support an exercise program. Things like an iron or protein deficiency can lead to a lack of energy. You need to eat good food regularly for maximum energy Lack of proper exercise - If you work in an office it is likely that you will be seated for most of the day. Add to that evenings spent watching television or using a computer and you could spend up to 80 percent of your day either sitting or doing very low level activities. This is a sedentary lifestyle which can cause you to lose muscle strength and overall fitness that can cause your body to run in slow motion. Poor health as one gets older is another major barrier to exercise participation, but keeping your body strong is important not just to disease proof your body but to fight illness as well. If you do not make time for exercise you will have to make time for illness somewhere down the road. A proper exercise program made up of mostly strength training exercise is what you need to rejuvenate yourself. If you are tired the last thing you will feel like doing is lots of long slow repetitive activity that will further drain your energy stores. Strength training is so effective just 2-3 sessions are needed each week. Directly targeting the muscles and increasing their strength will re-boot your entire body, rekindle your spirit and reawaken your brain. Even though you may feel that you are too tired to exercise, it may well be your lack of activity that is responsible for making you feel sluggish, lethargic and unmotivated to be active. When you build back your strength you will regain your energy levels and before long you will be leaping tall buildings with a single bound.
