Electric blind Companies who offer finance over a longer period of time and charge interest get a kickback payment from the finance company. Salespeople are very keen to sell you this as they often get a bonus for doing so. A personal loan from your bank can often work out a lot cheaper.

You do have a cooling off period. This means an order can be canceled without cost to you within a certain period of time. It is your right.

There are many companies making many types of motorized blinds. Don't take a sales persons word that they are the only company who make a particular type of blind. Get more quotes. You may be surprised.

You might be steered towards one type of blind by a company. The reason might be that they only make that one type of blind. Don't be scared off alternative blind types as they don't want you to like what they cant make. Make sure you buy what's best for you not what's best for the sales person. Get more quotes.

Don't be intimidated by salespeople overstaying their welcome. They feel that the longer they stay the more chance they have of making a sale. Think of an excuse in advance for them to leave and use it if you need to.

You will often be asked if all the decision makers will be present for the sales call. Companies prefer this as a customer will often not make a decision without consulting their partner. They want the decision makers there to close on the day to stop you from looking around.

Ask for their best price. Salespeople can discount but will often lose some commission in doing so. The first price they give will usually test the water. If you do not go ahead, other reasons to discount will be found by the salesperson. Phoning the manager is a common one. The fact of the matter is that if you had said yes to begin with, they would have been happy to take your money at the higher price.

Large blind companies will sometimes try to scare you away from smaller companies by claiming they are more likely to go into administration. In the current financial climate it could be the large companies disappearing as they find it hard to adjust and adapt quickly enough to a new market.

The two bag close. This tactic involves a full bag of samples and a small bag with a few of the most popular samples inside. The customer is told that the samples in the large bag are available all year round at full price. But only look in the small bag if you are prepared to buy today as these are batch ends which are discounted special offers and they will be gone tomorrow. Customers think they are getting a special deal but in reality the discount can be applied to all fabrics. Because the supposed

Batch end fabrics look better and are discounted customers are afraid that they will miss out if they don't buy today. As a result they don't find out that they could have got a better deal elsewhere.

A sale that lasts all year round is not a sale. Often these sales apply to selected fabrics only and are used for the companies to get their foot in the door. A cheap sale fabric might have an attractive price but will it do the job of cooling your conservatory or reducing glare enough. Beware the false economy. Look at the bottom line price and compare it to other quotes to put it into perspective.

Beware false product names. Some companies will rename products that already exist with their own invented name to make it seem exclusive.

Every blind type will have benefits and weaknesses. Fitted in the correct way in the correct conservatory type all will have a part to play. Some are more practical, some more aesthetic and some more affordable. Don't be put off by photos of unsuitable blind types fitted in the wrong situation. These photos are used to scare you away from products they don't offer. There are bad photos available for every type of blind on the market. It's usually down to salespeople selling the wrong blind for the wrong job, poor survey and fitting or a combination of all.

Salespeople can promise one thing and a surveyor then tell you it's not possible. Again be aware that you are not obligated to proceed. Has the price now gone up or have you lost the features that attracted you to that companies product in the first place.

You may encounter some companies that claim their blinds can be easily removed for cleaning by the customer. Where rectangle shaped blinds are concerned this is generally the case for those of you who have reasonable manual skills. Triangle blinds are a different case all together as their diagonal support cables can hinder removal. If blinds are damaged whilst cleaning how will this affect your warranty? Some blind types need more maintenance than others. Look at all the options available to you. Knowledge is power.
