1. Take the process of choosing your topics very seriously. It's crucial that you choose a subject that your target readers and your editors will find useful and valuable otherwise, your articles will be rejected. Here's what I suggest; get to know the in-demand topics in your chosen niche. Then, identify which ones are not yet explored by other writers. These are the best topics for your articles. 2. Research your chosen subject thoroughly. This is something that you need to do even if you're considered knowledgeable in your chosen topic. Do your research and you might be amazed as to how much up-to-date information are now available on different resources. Gather as much interesting information as possible to easily impress your readers. 3. Let your opinion known.. but only if you're an expert. Some of your readers may take your word very seriously. As such, you need to be very responsible especially if you're giving out opinion that can affect your readers' buying decision or way of thinking. Make sue that you can back up your claims with studies and research. 4. There is no "right" lead paragraph. Unlike when you're writing news articles, you don't need to use the inverted pyramid technique all the time when writing articles for magazines. You can start your article anyway you want. You can ask questions, offer the most important details or amazing breakthroughs, or defy common beliefs. Just make sure that your lead will draw your readers in and will keep them interested. 5. Take feedback and criticisms constructively. You cannot afford to be overly sensitive when starting a career in this field. Most publishers are critical and most of them will not waste their time looking for kind words when they're giving out feedback to their contributors. Don't take anything personally. Just understand the things that you need to work on and do something about them ASAP. 6. Avoid writer's block. It's important that you know how to combat this phenomenon as this will surely affect the amount of your output and the quality of your articles. You can fight writer's block by writing about something that you're very passionate about and by not overworking yourself. 7. Keep your audience in mind. This is one of the most important tips that you should always remember. Always put your target audience and their needs on top of your priority list. Give them exactly what they want and write your articles in such a way that these people will easily understand your content. Give them great reading experience by making your articles fun to read. Impressing these people is the key to succeed in this endeavor. 8. Don't save the best for last. You must not put all the juiciest details on your last paragraph otherwise, you will lose the interest of your readers quickly. Ideally, you should put the most impressive details you have on your lead paragraph to easily hook your audience and get them to read on. 9. Review your articles. The best way to end the process is to read your articles aloud and make sure that they're flawless.
