Many people who want to lose weight do not realize that their body can assist them if they create the right environment for fat loss. This means that the body's hormones which are the chemical messengers that give instructions to the cells and tissues can help enormously with weight loss. People who do not exercise or eat properly have an almost impossible job of losing weight as the body's hormones become out of balance and start working against them. If you do not exercise (and 6 out of 10 people don't) your levels of stress hormone cortisol are likely to be higher which can cause your body to store fat more readily. An increased appetite comes from high levels of the hormone insulin - the result of a diet of too many refined high sugar and high fat foods. Intense food cravings are the result which can further lead to overeating. When you work your muscles with proper exercise you lower the levels of these hormones which can keep you on track with your healthy eating plan. The secret to losing weight is to rebuild your fat burning machinery and the only way to do this is to tone up your muscles with a proper exercise program containing mostly strength training exercise. Your muscles are where fat is burned for energy so their health and condition is vital if a strong lean body is desired. Toning up your muscles will also bring in line your body's hormones which will make the job of losing weight so much easier and quicker when they are not working against you. You will be increasing your metabolic rate and this will slowly but surely eat up that excess body fat which spoils your appearance and increases health risks. Yes it may mean a few changes to what you are currently doing. But surely this is better than remaining overweight or even worse - continuing to gain weight. This is a slippery slope but you totally have the power to turn it around and it does not mean dieting or any excessive exercise regimes. It means 2-3 sessions each week with your strength training program, preferably set up and monitored by a fitness professional who will ensure you get proper results. It will also mean you need to get your eating plan improved with small frequent meals throughout the day to further speed up your metabolism and give you plenty of energy. A portion of quality protein at each of those meals is also important. The energy that you will be gaining is what is going to allow you to put some effort into your exercise program so you can make the necessary changes to your body that will put your body into fat burning mode. If this sounds like a simple solution it is but it will take a little time for you to put it into place. But there is no hurry and each tiny step is a step away from weight gain and a step towards weight loss. Every weight loss journey is made up of hundreds of tiny steps so get started and do not look back.
