It only happens two, maybe three times in a high school kid's career. After that, there will never be another feeling like it. Dressing up to go to the prom is something most kids will do at some point in their lives. For years, it has symbolized a rite of passage crossing the bridge from childhood to adulthood. Kids love their prom experiences, but the time they actually get to experience them is simply not enough. Most wish that experience could last a little bit longer. This is part of the reason why it is so much fun to wear prom attire the next morning at church. But there are other reasons. Here are five: Expense: If you are a parent or a young adult, who knows what it means to be responsible for purchasing your own prom attire, then you also know just how much paying for it can hurt the pocketbook. Seems a little crazy to rid yourself of the garments as soon as humanly possible, doesn't it? Common sense tells you to get your money's worth and as much wear out of the items as possible. Builds confidence: No one can deny how beautiful, handsome, and elegant, kids look in their prom attire. For many, it is also the first time they truly feel they are beautiful, handsome, or elegant. Why not allow them to feel that way a little longer? After all, with beauty and grace comes confidence, and you do want your kids to feel good about themselves. No student feels better about the way they look than on prom night. At least, the average student doesn't. Honor for the occasion: You have heard the expression, "wear your Sunday best." Well, chances are your kids have never worn better than their prom attire. By allowing your kids to wear their prom dresses and tuxedos to church, you are allowing them to honor the occasion of church in a more special way than they ever have before with their clothing selection. Need to involve those they love: Sure, you see your children off on prom night. You see how wonderful they look. But the people who love your kids, and whom your kids love in return, are not defined only by blood. If you have brought your children up in church, then there are many others who would love to be a part of their special night, and even though it is the next morning, church after prom is still part of that night when your kids wear their prom attire. This is true, because the people who have shared your children's lives with you, and who have been a part of their spiritual upbringing get to see how they looked on their special night. Commemorate the memories: When kids wear their prom dresses and tuxedos to church, it gives them one last occasion to look forward to in commemorating their special night. Once you decide to wear your prom dresses and tuxedos to church, you can focus on the full experience and better enjoy the unity of friends, fun, and faith.
