We live in an all-or-nothing society and expect things to happen quickly or we tend to lose our focus and go on to the next 'flavor of the month'. We forget that small, consistent changes in the way we live our lives done over a period of time have more power than the "I'm going to work out seven days per week and lose 15 pounds in two weeks mentality." A much better way to achieve long term fitness and weight loss success is to coax your body and mind along with small changes - not try and force it. It will only come back to bite you on the backside if you do. Your goal should be to create more motivation and new habits and a good way to do this is with a guaranteed successful time period with a limited number of days. For someone just starting on an exercise program the thought of having to exercise four to six days a week would put them off forever. This would be failure just waiting to happen. A better goal is to start with just two sessions each week for thirty days. Just two days you say, why so little? Well, it is safe to say anyone can commit to two days a week for 30 days. So once we have removed the unrealistic goal of four to six days a week that even seasoned exercisers have a hard time achieving a smaller more achievable goal that will guarantee success is in place. A much better and sustainable way to look at losing a few pounds and getting into better shape and the key is to create a realistic plan of consistency. So that at the end of the thirty days you can say to yourself "I did it. I completed all my workouts for one whole month." How cool would that be? The fact is, your mind loves achieving goals, and your body likes feeling more energized. At the end of one month, with two sessions each week of a proper exercise program that contains mostly strength training exercise, you will get really good results. You will notice your muscles getting firmer and tighter and your energy will increase as your metabolism (your body's engine) gets a reboot. Even if you are a more advanced exerciser and have lost motivation try this formula for thirty days and see if you don't get your 'mojo' back. Remember, just one month of consistency - all you have to do is get all the workouts in. It will catch fire and soon go from a small fire to a large fire, and you will be well on your way to the body you really want and deserve. For busy people this may be the best formula to exercise long term. It isn't how many times each week you get to the gym but what you do there when you do go that counts. If you exercise with the correct level of intensity (degree of difficulty) two sessions each week is the perfect amount of exercise. So, commit to two days of exercise per week and ignore anyone who tells you this is not enough. A proper program done in the right manner will give you all the results you could wish for with just two sessions each week. You will create a priceless exercise habit along with a lifestyle change for a better quality of life. Just two days a week.
