A thrush infection is actually another name for yeast infection. Our body contains yeast due to the diet that we consume on a daily basis (e.g. bread). When Candida, a type of fungi, starts to feed on the yeast in the body, we say that the individual has a condition known as thrush infection. Since bread is such a common food, why would is it a catalyst for thrush infection? The fact is, the human body has the natural ability to produce good bacteria that will help keep yeast infection at bay. That's why most people, even if they consume yeast on a daily basis, are not affected by Candida. But like all infections, the fungi has its way of targeting specifically weak areas of the body. If you have a weakened immune system, you are more at risk. You will be more vulnerable not just to yeast infection but to all kinds of bacteria attacks. Your body simply does not have the ability to fight off the offensive bacteria and fungi. That's why it gives away to the fungi and allows it to grow. So if you want to prevent thrush infection, the first thing you need to do is to keep yourself healthy. So even if one part of the body is affected, your immune system has the ability to self correct and cure the condition naturally. Thrush infection can affect various parts of the body. More commonly known parts include the mouth, the genital areas, and any other sensitive area. Note that sensitive areas are more prone to infection if you are not careful. So be sure to keep them dry. If you workout regularly, towel yourself dry before heading home. Don't let your body remain drenched in a sweated T-shirt for hours. Like all fungi, Candida thrives in warm and moist conditions. Therefore, areas like arm pits, feet and mouths tend to be more easily infected. These are areas where its harder to keep dry. They are usually protected by shoes or clothing during the day. Hence, they stay warm and moist, giving the exact conditions for fungi to thrive. If you are affected by thrush infections, always try to wear airy clothes to keep the affected areas dry. If you have thrush infection on your feet, try wearing slippers. If your workplace does not allow you to wear slippers, then speak with your doctor and get a doctor's note. For oral thrush infections, you may have to apply an oral thrush cream. Fungi can be stubborn at times and hard to kill. Many creams that are readily available in public pharmacies don't work well because they may not be targeted at Candida. After trying various creams, if the condition persists, don't hesitate to see a doctor. Finally, if you suspect that an infant is affected by thrush infection, go see a doctor immediately. A baby's immune system is not as strong as an adult. So waiting may not be a wise decision. Your doctor will be able to treat the condition accordingly.
