We all know we should try and live a healthy lifestyle but for many people it is a lifestyle without any kind of fun. After all losing weight must surely mean giving up pizza and ice-cream for salads and berries, and exercise means getting up early and huffing and puffing your way through a miserable experience with an activity like jogging. Are you annoyed by people who seem to enjoy their exercise or even people who have a healthy body weight that eat healthy with seemingly little effort? It is easy to wonder why it is so easy for them and such a struggle and endless commitment for you. There is a reason and it is quite simple really once you know it - time. The longer a person is working on improving their lifestyle the easier and more effortless it becomes. If you give it some time it might well be you who goes on to annoy others when you get it together too. It does look hard in the beginning as there seems so much that has to be changed to lose weight or improve health. You have to cement a proper exercise program into your life and teach yourself how to eat to lose fat and maintain your weight - easier said than done. It all could be likened to a second job and that is one way to look at it. Time does need to be invested into it just as you would in a job, hobby or new skills that you want or need to learn. This is not wasted time, it is invested time and when you have exercise and healthier eating in the forefront of your life the rewards will knock your socks off. The more you practice these things, each healthy mea and every exercise session you are gaining a little bit of forward momentum in forming these new habits. Each journey is made up of hundreds of tiny steps and each tiny step that you get done is a smidgeon closer to your goal. These changes may take weeks, months or even years to really nail so it becomes an effortless habit just like those people that annoy us. But soon it will not be something that 'you do' it will be something that 'you become' and then you are truly there. At the start it is important to just focus on what you need to do and do it; the results will not be instant or magic. Just focus on what you need to do each day and each week and make sure they are done as best you can. It will never ever be perfect so do not expect it to be. Focus on the improvements only. For your exercise program a goal of just 2-3 strength training sessions each week is all you need to do. When done with a bit of effort put into it you do not need any other exercise. Your proper program will tone up your muscle, increase your 'cardio' fitness and speed up your metabolic rate like no other activity can. Plus it takes up the least but most effective time frame. You can get three times the results in only half the time when you do it right. This makes it easier to do as time is not being wasted on ineffective low intensity stuff that will get you little to zero results. Next you need to eat 4-6 small meals, each with a portion of protein. The trick here is to plan and prepare ahead so no matter where you are during the day you will have no reason to eat the wrong foods. Once you get used to eating like this you will never ever want to go back to eating 'whatever whenever'. When you get this bit right even 80 percent of the time the fat loss and health improvement results will astound you. This journey is not something that is over and done with once you get there either. You will always be working on your habits, choices, lifestyle and of course your beliefs and motivation levels. Allowing yourself this time is crucial for the necessary permanent changes you wish to make to your body and ultimately your health and you are most definitely worth it.
