Helen Ga. Restaurants rarely fail to please even the pickiest of eaters. There is common attribute among all the restaurant owners in Helen Ga., and that is quality. I guess it's the old saying, that competition breeds value. There are a ton of dining choices all over the small Alpine mountain village of Helen Ga., and as tourists flock in by the thousands, they are serious about getting a good high quality dining experience at a fair price. Some of the restaurants are extremely high priced gourmet style, while many are moderate to low priced allowing for a variety of choices. Some restaurants rely more on environment than on food offering options such as patio dining overlooking a cascading mountain river. Some of the restaurants boast great live entertainment, and some just great food at a great price, but have no doubt they all share in the delivery of great food at a fair price, and a excellent dining experience. Helen Ga. has restaurants ranging from menu items such as your basic pizza and hot wings, to big thick juicy fire grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, to German specialties, and even a excellent Mexican restaurant right on the main square. In most urban areas, if a bar is also acting as a restaurant, you can count on some pretty bad overpriced food choices, but not in Helen Ga. The bars here although well focused on excellent drink options such as imported German beers, and more mixed drinks than you can shake a stick at, you can count on that if they also serve food, it's going to be excellent. La Cabanas is just one example. Tourists visiting Helen Ga. can get a excellent Mexican meal for very close to what they would expect to pay in the city, but with really nice mountain resort patio dining, live patio entertainment, and beer and drink selections that would please anyone. There is Hofer's Bakery & Café, which serves one of the best deli style sandwiches around with a very moist bread made fresh in their own bakery. They also have a mouth-watering selection of cakes, and deserts made fresh daily right there in their bakery. Café International is a patio style café overlooking the banks of a cascading mountain river that serves anything from an amazingly good BBQ sandwich plate, to a bratwurst to die for, and the best lasagna I've ever had. I have been returning for their lasagna for over twenty years now. The International café is a nice dimly lit café where diners can sit, talk, drink, and enjoy intimate conversation all to the mild sound of a cascading river just feet below the deck. And for the best BBQ that has ever hit Georgia, North Ga. BBQ is the top of the list. Their pork is smoked for twelve hours, and never placed to cook over open flame, leading to the juiciest richest smoked flavor this side of the Mason Dixon Line. So if you are looking for a great excuse to visit Helen Ga. this year, if nothing else, just show up for the great food. I can assure you, you will most likely never be disappointed.
