For starters, there are two tubing companies in Helen Ga. One is Cool River Tubing, and the other is through the Helen Water Park. My family and I went with the Helen Water Park because the price included unlimited all day tubing, plus all day access to the Helen Water Park, so needless to say by the end of the day, we were water logged. There is no better, and more economical way to spend the day dodging the searing Ga. heat than to take a lazy float down a fairly shallow portion of the Chattahoochee River especially considering that most of the length of the tour is in the well shaded area of the upper Chattahoochee River. Helen Ga. tubing is safe for almost any age. There were kids in tubes from what I could see that were as young as perhaps two and three years old. Helen Ga. tubing offers a relatively mild, gentle, safe, and lazy ride down the river. There were even a few family's floating down with their dogs, I even saw one dog that the owner had the dog in its own tube; how cute? We parked at the entrance of the Helen Water Park, where we found more than ample parking, and yes, the parking was free, as it should be. First we started our day by spending a few hours at the Helen Water Park, lazily floating around the crystal clear clean waters of the one thousand foot long pool located within the Helen Water Park, and taking a few big runs down the extremely fast water slides. After a few hours of getting nice and water logged, and building up an extreme appetite, I ran up the street and grabbed a handful of BBQ sandwiches from North Georgia BBQ, which is the best BBQ in Helen Ga., and meeting back with my family where we joined together at the perfect riverside picnic tables just outside of the water parks gates. After filling up on BBQ sandwiches, potato chips, and soft drinks, we jumped on the water parks shuttle bus which took us all the way to the upper portion of the river were we would began our awesome scenic Helen Ga. tubing tour down the Chattahoochee River all the way back to the Helen Water Park were we started. We then spent the remainder of the day getting a perfect sun tan while indulging in all the fun activities offered in the water park. Helen Ga. tubing has quickly become a huge attraction in Helen Ga. The cost is minimal, and if you are just interested in Helen Ga. tubing, you can take the Cool River tubing tour which is much less expensive than the Helen Water Park package, and still get the Helen Ga. tubing full experience, and Cool River Tubing does offer a add on to their package which gives you the option of exiting the river about mid way down the tour, and enjoying a nice water slide. Taking the Cool River Tubing Helen Ga. tubing tour also offers excellent riverside picnic opportunities in beautiful country style shade picnic pavilions located right on the river, and I do mean right on the river at their exit point. No matter which Helen Ga. tubing facility you choose, this is a exciting and fun filled low budget form of entertainment that will create lasting and memorable family fun.
