If you have unmet fitness goals that are like a thorn in your side lets look at some ideas as to why you have not met these goals. Just like baking a cake there are some ingredients that must be in the mix to make a really nice cake. Here are three important ingredients that you may need to check on so you can achieve your dream body. 1. Your mind – You may be wondering what your mind has to do with getting your body into great shape. Well, in a single word, your mind has absolutely everything to do with getting the body of your dreams. It is so important that your mind will single handedly make or break your success. How you may ask? Well, your mind works hard to keep and reinforce the beliefs you hold about yourself. If you think you must remain as an overweight person, or an out of shape person then your subconscious mind with do everything in its power to keep you that way. It is like self sabotage, but the human mind sometimes likes to maintain the status quo as it is easier than making changes and risking getting out of its comfort zone. But if you can slowly start to change those old embedded beliefs then you have a much greater chance of success. This is one time that old saying "fake it till you make it" will serve you well. All that is needed at this stage is that you tell yourself that you are on the road to success, making progress, that it will happen and you can do it. 2. Your Plan – To be successful in changing your body you must have a plan. Just like building a house you need a plan first and foremost. If you are unable to do this seek the help of a fitness professional who will help you with this based on where you are now and where you want to go. Everyone who successfully sets out to achieve a dream body does so by implementing a plan. Your plan is crucial to your success. You could picture it as a guide map to find a new destination, without it you will become hopelessly lost. There will be two major parts to your plan A. Your exercise Program – Strength training exercise should form the foundation of your program and make up at least 60% of it.. To reshape your body and speed up your metabolism no other exercise or activity will even come close it this special type of exercise. The balance of your program must include interval training. These are short burst of all out activity for very short periods (maybe just 8 -12 seconds) followed by a minute or two of recovery activity. An example of this would be sprinting for 10 seconds then walking for 30 seconds to one minute. Repeat 10 or more times as fitness and endurance increase. Forget the long, slow boring methods of exercise like walking, cycling etc that were popular in the 1980's. They are great as part of an active lifestyle but do not expect them to give you the results that a proper exercise program can deliver. B. Your eating plan – The rules are simple, eat 4-6 meals spread out every 2 -3 hours throughout the day. Each of these meals should contain a protein source of around 20 grams of protein as the base. Add vegetables or complex carbohydrates to this. Stick to unprocessed, natural, whole foods as much as possible. Try to focus on what you should be eating, not what you shouldn't be eating. When you are eating the things you need there won't be any room for anything else! If you can stick to these simple eating rules at least 80% of the time you will create enough magic to transform your body. It really is this simple – you can turn your fitness and weight loss dreams into reality and achieve the body of your dreams. Try it and see for yourself.
