Many people who want to stay youthful in looks and the way they function look to mainly cosmetic procedures to remove the signs of Father Time from their bodies.Nips and tucks, surgery, injections, creams and treatments of all kinds costing large amounts of money are a growing market in our youth obsessed modern society.

Yet no amount of these largely superficial methods can have much effect on the speed at which we age. Accelerated and premature aging is common with our sedentary lifestyles and poor quality heavily processed foods. The real damage is being done right down at cellular level with chemicals that whisper to the cells to decay, degenerate and die.

Yet something so simple as a proper exercise program containing mostly strength training exercise can turn this situation totally around. The health and condition of the muscular system of the human body is critical to how fast or slow we age and whether we remain healthy and disease free or set ourselves up for a nasty life threatening disease.

Without proper exercise that directly works the muscles the metabolism (the body's engine) slows dragging health down with it over a period of time. The metabolism is responsible for converting the food we eat into energy that is burnt in the muscles. If we are not using them as we should, fats and sugars stay in the bloodstream ending up in places they shouldn't be, doing damage to cells, tissues and organs. We are also likely to become overweight increasing health risks.

There is no way you can look or function youthfully at any age without proper exercise. This does not mean going for a walk or doing some light housework or gardening type activity.

This means getting stuck into a strength training program properly set up and monitored by a fitness professional. This will ensure you will get the maximum results for your time, energy and money invested. But just 2-3 sessions each week is all that is needed to keep your strength and along with your strength your youthfulness.

Without proper exercise your muscle strength dwindles like an aging engine, bones weaken, height shrinks and your energy levels plummet. Your posture droops, body composition (muscle/fat ratio) changes negatively, heart and lungs lose their strength and power and you have a greatly increased risk of serious disease.

No amount of money spent of cosmetic procedures can stop all this happening but your strength training program done properly has the power to stop and even reverse much of the damage caused by not doing enough muscle building and maintaining activity.

Forget these procedures and focus on something much cheaper and more effective that will rejuvenate all of your body's cells and tissues putting the brakes on aging that is not possible in any other way.

You will be so impressed with the results and how good you feel and look that you will wish you had started years ago. But never mind when you start, just get started so you can reap the benefits no matter what your age.
