Remaining youthful is a modern obsession. People are spending large amounts of money to have the signs of age removed from their bodies. Nips and tucks, implants, pills, creams, and treatments are routinely undertaken to keep us looking young. But the problem is with these things they are largely external procedures and can never ever have any real slowing effect on the aging process.

Our sedentary lifestyles are causing us to age at an accelerated rate and spending all of this money on 'cosmetic fluff' seems rather pointless when our body is aging at a faster rate than it needs too from the inside out.

If you are not looking after the condition of your muscles and they are soft, weak and flabby you are denying yourself the magic of the most youth enhancing hormone - your own 'human growth hormone'. This hormone is so powerful it will keep your muscles and bones strong, your metabolism (the body's engine) and your fat burning machinery in good working order, your energy levels high along with disease proofing your body.

If you work your muscles in the proper way (through their full ranges of movement under a load) at the right level of intensity (degree of effort) you will stimulate the release of this hormone. This will give you more anti aging benefits that any medical procedure or pill ever can and promote tissue repair and cell rejuvenation in the muscles, bones and vital organs.

Face it; you cannot look young without good muscle tone. It is simply not possible to look good - really good without it. If your muscles are not strong and toned you are simply not being active enough and on the inside your bones are weakening, your heart and lungs will have lost their power, your metabolism has slowed, your posture will be drooping, height shrunk and your energy levels will have been siphoned away.

You have effectively told your genes that you have no further use for your strength and like the old 'use it' or 'lose it' scenario you have set your body along with your health and wellness on the downward spiral of accelerated aging and premature decay.

Your own supply of human growth hormone is considered to be the rejuvenation factor of the body boosting the function of every gland, organ and system of the human body. The natural way to increase the level of this 'fitness' hormone is with strength training exercise. No real surprise that 'aerobic' or 'cardio' type activity (like walking, jogging, cycling) does not do much for stimulating growth hormone levels.

When you use strength training as your primary exercise method you will have more muscle and bone strength, will be leaner and therefore slimmer than those who only do low intensity recreational activity.

If you truly want to remain youthful you will need to accept that some 'effort' will be needed with your exercise program to kick start the trickle of the 'youth' hormone that will put the brakes on the aging process. You will soon see that this way will blow the socks off anything else that claims to be anti aging.
