In today's busy world, many people such as those who go to work each day right thought to as the self employed and 'go getting' entrepreneurs often neglect self care habits. Although many of these people have the ability and flexibility to choose how they spend their time - exercise and self care routines are the most frequently missing practices. Yet these very people are the ones that could use more order to their lives and should have proper distressing mechanisms in place to help them cope with so much 'busyness'. Surely our most important business asset in our career or working life is our body. We seem to pay a lot of attention to our financial and career goals but seem to forget our most important asset is the body we have to live in. We cannot do our work and fulfill our mission in life if our body can't support us and it is because of neglect that it will let us down eventually through weakness such as disease or illness. But we get busy and we get lazy and when we don't honor our personal needs with the proper exercise that our body needs to stay healthy we seriously risk our quality of life. If we don't make proper decisions on behalf of our body it will eventually be forced to make the decisions for us. No, it is not easy making changes, to slow down a little or let go of projects that don't truly serve your purpose. But when you don't make some time for what really is important such as your exercise program or even taking the time to eat properly because you are stringing deadlines together you run long term risks to your health. How much time does it really take to squeeze in a couple of sessions each week of proper exercise that includes mainly strength training exercise. This is what will give you the most 'bang for your buck' in the exercise department. If you work seated it is very important to keep your body strong so it can handle the seated sedentary nature of the modern day business life. If you work with a fitness professional even just for a few sessions it will set you up for long term gain. Muscle tissue is what each of us is losing at the rate of one half pound per year. An inactive lifestyle hastens this process and eventually leads to a poor quality of life and an increased disease risk. It is not until it is too late that the wrong decisions, made because of our supposed 'busyness' and our attitudes towards our own health and fitness determine the quality of life we are left with. And then it is too late to turn back the clock. Every exercise session, every nutritious meal and every good nights sleep is like money in the bank. You will never regret putting aside some of your 'busyness' and making time for some proper physical activity. Think of it as an essential part of your self care so you can remain creative, productive and dynamic throughout your long and healthy lifespan.
