The health consequences of the world's burgeoning obesity epidemic include the big three killers 'heart disease, cancer and diabetes along with many others. Health problems caused by being overweight could wipe out the increased life expectancy we have attained over the past century. And obesity is certainly the villain that is wreaking havoc with our metabolic health. Your individual lifestyle is the big factor in whether you develop metabolic syndrome or not as these things do not happen of their own accord. One of the most important things you can do to prevent this happening to you is a regular proper exercise program containing mostly strength training exercise. The condition of your muscles are crucial to sugar and fat metabolisms and energy/heat conversions together with the regulation of hormonal balance. Strength training exercise not only increases muscle strength but also improves the efficiency of your metabolism and acts to prevent the diseases that are typical of our modern developed world.
