Millions of people around the world function below their potential. Their blood doesn't pump as efficiently, their digestion doesn't break down food properly, they constantly feel tired, their weight keeps increasing and they simply do not feel as well as they could. They are sometimes referred to as the 'walking wounded'. These people can continue like this for years or even decades. Not feeling ill enough to be bed bound but not well enough to function adequately either. Disease is stalking them and waiting in the wings to pounce. As the body's efficiency drops, more symptoms appear and eventually the person is diagnosed with a disease – heart disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity, arthritis, asthma or a host of other conditions called chronic 'lifestyle' diseases. This is because the way you live your life are the cause of these diseases. So, you may say what is real health then? Being healthy is not just an absence of disease but an abundance of energy, vitality and a zest for life. Real health gives you peak performance physically, mentally and emotionally. When you have real health your body has the ability to fight off disease and you most certainly don't suffer from preventable 'lifestyle' diseases that rob many people of their health and often their life. Real health gives you the ability to enjoy a long life span with a health span to match, unlike the shorter lifespan many people face today, often suffering many years of pain, disability and ill health. Many people have not experienced real health in a very long time and somehow are not linking what they do and don't do on a daily basis as the contributing factor for this. You need to take responsibility for your own health. If you don't look after you - nobody else will. Most people just drift along without a single care about their health until something goes wrong and then expect the doctor to fix it. The doctor is really the breakdown service for your body and you should be doing the general maintenance. This maintenance should include as the number one self care method a proper exercise program that includes strength training exercise which has been shown to prevent or delay the onset of many disease conditions, and will improve physical function and delay disability in those who have them. Have your program set up by a fitness professional so that you are not only taught proper exercise technique but also you need to perform the exercises with the correct intensity (degree of difficulty) if results are to be meaningful. The other important part of becoming healthy again is your eating plan. Try small meals every 2-3 hours throughout the day each with around 20 grams of protein. Add lots of raw and cooked vegetables to complete the meal. Stay away from processed and refined stuff they call food in pretty boxes as much as possible and stick to whole natural foods that don't have a food label. Items like an apple, a carrot or a tomato - these are whole foods. The good news is you can heal this syndrome, you don't have to be one of the 'walking wounded'. You can regain your energy and strength and feel in control of your life again. And as every year of your life passes you have more to gain by being physically active and as your risk of chronic disease increases with age you push it further away from you with your new true healthiness.
