Affinity Plus Credit Union a small credit union based in the city of St. Paul, Minnesota, has one of the best CD rates currently available on any 12 month certificate of deposit. In fact, Affinity Plus Credit Union's 12 month certificate of deposit rate is probably the highest 12 month CD rate available from any bank or credit union. Affinity Plus Credit Union is offering their 12 month "Wahoo" certificate of deposit with a current dividend rate of 1.98 percent with an annual percentage yield (APY) of 2.00 percent. Considering most 12 month bank CD rates and credit union CD rates are less than half Affinity Plus Credit Union's rate I seriously doubt you can find a 12 month CD rate better than that Affinity's rate. If you want to take advantage of this great rate you can but unfortunately there is a maximum deposit amount of $25,000. Which still isn't bad because if you invest $25,000 in a Affinity Plus Wahoo certificate of deposit you'll earn $500 a year. Granted CD rates are going higher but probably not until 2012 so why not enjoy one of the best rates available until interest rates start going higher. Again most other 12 month bank CD rates and 12 month credit union CD rates at credit unions are less than 1.00 percent right now. Affinity Plus Credit Union's other certificate of deposit rates are pretty decent as well. Here is a list of the credit union's current CD rates on their regular certificates of deposit. The credit union is also offering the following regular certificates. 3 months 0.25% APY 0.25% 6 months 0.374% APY 0.375% 12 months 0.80% APY 0.80% 24 Months 1.12% APY 1.125% *36 Months 1.79% APY 1.80% *48 Months 1.982% APY 2.00% *60 Months 2.47% APY 2.50% *Available as IRA Certificates. IRA Certificate dividends must accrue on the certificate. In addition to the credit union's special Wahoo certificate of deposit and their regular CDs the credit union is also advertising several different savings account rates and money market account rates. The interest rates on these accounts are not as high as the interest rates on the CDs. Savings accounts include the credit union's Membership Savings account, Shares 2 savings account, Classic IRA savings account, Classic Roth savings account, Vacation Club savings account and Holiday Club savings account all have a current savings account rate of 0.10 percent with an annual percentage yield of 0.10 percent. As you can see, these rates aren't that high at all so you're better off investing in the credit union's certificate of deposit accounts. The credit union's money market accounts include their Capital Money Market Account, A+ Money Market Account, Nova Money Market Account. The interest rates and annual percentage yields on these accounts aren't much better than their savings accounts. In fact, the highest money market account rate is only at 0.20 percent with an APY of 0.20 percent. That rate is on their Nova Money Market Account with has a minimum opening balance and minimum account balance of $25,000. Interest rates change all the time, for a current list of the credit union's rates visit the credit union's website.
