2011-06-28

Are there troubled areas in your smile that you would like to fix? Have you always desired that Hollywood sparkling smile, but don't know where to start? With traditional veneers and Lumineers you can transform your smile without undergoing lengthy and uncomfortable procedures. Custom designed and ultra-thin, traditional veneers and Lumineers can give you the smile you have always desired. An increasingly popular cosmetic dental procedure, veneers can create a brighter, whiter smile that you have always wanted. Today, you can achieve a more natural look than what has previously been available with traditional veneers and Lumineers through one easy visit with CEREC.

Veneers

Dental veneers are a popular restorative-dentistry option and are made of thin, durable and stain resistant porcelain. Veneers are used to perfect your smile by masking deep stains, hiding cracks and chips, correcting worn down or misaligned teeth and creating uniformity. Traditional veneers are custom-shaped wafer thin laminates that are permanently bonded to your front teeth to correct your smile. These can also be used to close unsightly gaps and straighten and lengthen teeth to improve their bite position. Unlike a crown, which covers the entire tooth, a porcelain veneer covers only the visible portion of the tooth. Most of the natural tooth structure remains intact since only a thin layer of tooth is removed to allow for the added thickness of the veneer.

CEREC 3-D for One Visit Veneers

As technology continually progresses, so does dentistry. Today you can achieve your bright, white smile with dental veneers in one easy visit with CEREC. An acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, CEREC is used to restore damaged teeth in a single appointment using high-quality ceramic material that matches the natural color of your other teeth.

At my Pasadena dentist's office, using CEREC 3-D allows you to have your porcelain veneer within a 1 to 1.5 hour appointment per tooth. In a single morning or afternoon, I can create a new smile for you. There is no need for traditional impressions, lab work or a 7 to 10 day waiting period while wearing temporary veneers.

CEREC uses CAD/CAM, computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing, technology which incorporated a camera, computer and milling machine in one instrument. As your dentist, I use a special camera to take an accurate picture of the damaged tooth. This is then transferred and displayed on a color computer screen where I use CAD technology to design the restoration. Next, CAM takes over and automatically creates the restoration while you wait. As the last step, in my Pasadena dentist's office, I bond the new restoration to the surface of your old tooth.

Lumineers

Lumineers are created with patented Cerinate porcelain that is contact-lens thin with a process that is noninvasive and comfortable to correct teeth. The advantage of Lumineers is that they are placed directly over existing teeth with no removal of tooth structure, unlike traditional veneers. This makes it so that your Lumineers can be removed if desired, as opposed to being permanently placed on your teeth.

Both options for veneers provide a natural and long lasting result, but choosing the option that is best suited for your dental needs depends on your dental history, overall health and desired results. A proper consultation in my Pasadena cosmetic dentist's office will help to formulate the most aesthetic and functional treatment for your smile.
